Subject: Implementing the Accounting Paraprofessional Test
Issue Date: September 23, 1999
With your cooperation, the Department of Civil Service and its contractor, Personnel Consultant Group, has developed a new test for the Accounting Paraprofessional positions. We are now planning its implementation. The new exam, the Accounting Paraprofessional Test (APT--Series 6000) will replace the Series 2027 exam.
The last date for administration of the Series 2027 exam will be October 23, 1999. Administration of the new APT exam will begin Tuesday, October 26, 1999, in our Baton Rouge and New Orleans information offices. Testing in our Saturday centers will begin on October 30, 1999.
Wednesday, December 1, 1999, is the last day that certificates will be issued from series 2027 registers. Appointments may be made from existing series 2027 certificates as long as the certificates are still active. Provisional appointments may also be made from existing series 2027 certificates; however, since the series 2027 exam will no longer be given after Saturday, October 23, 1999, candidates appointed provisionally to these jobs will be required to take the new APT exam in order to be converted to a probational or job appointment once that cut-off date has passed. NO CERTIFICATES WILL BE ISSUED FOR THESE JOBS FROM THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1999 THROUGH FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1999.
Certifiable score appointments from series 2027 registers may be made with effective dates through Sunday, December 19, 1999. Effective Monday, December 20, 1999, we will begin issuing certificates from the new APT registers, and certifiable score appointments may be made from APT registers only.
All candidates active on Series 2027 registers will be notified in writing about the implementation of the new test. They will be advised to take the new exam as soon as possible, but no later than December 11, 1999, to ensure that there will be no break in eligibility. They may take the new exam after December 11, 1999 but may miss being on the first certificates issued using the new score.
