GENERAL CIRCULAR NO. 001362
TO: HEADS OF STATE AGENCIES AND PERSONNEL OFFICERS
SUBJECT: Abolishment of Exams - Professional Accounting and Auditing Jobs
ISSUE DATE: August 24, 1999
To facilitate recruitment into our professional Accounting and Auditing jobs, the Examining Division is abolishing the written examinations for these jobs and establishing "Eligible" lists in their place. Candidates who meet the Minimum Qualifications for professional Accounting or Auditing positions will be rated "Eligible", based on the information in their employment applications.
Effective immediately, these examinations are no longer being administered. The Examining Division will automatically convert current test scores for candidates on both the Series 1000 (Professional Accounting) and Series 1500 (Professional Auditing) lists of eligibles to ratings on the new Eligible lists. New applicants must submit applications to be placed upon the lists.
Any outstanding certificates for series 1000 or 1500 will be honored until they have expired. Certifiable score appointments may be made as usual based either on the candidate's test score (prior to conversion of these lists to "Eligibles") or on the "Eligible" rating. Please note that, once these test scores have been converted to "Eligibles", ALL candidates on the list will be considered certifiable. State employees competing for promotion into these positions will be required to have "Eligible" ratings for the positions in question.
If you have any questions about these actions, please contact Bill Rowe or Amy Tompkins in the Examining Division.
Sincerely,
Allen Reynolds
Director
