Subject: Transition For Series 4000 To Series 6500
Issue Date: July 8, 1999
The first grades for the new Clerical Office and Administrative Services Test (COAST) were issued the week of June 28, 1999.
Certificates from series 4000 will be issued through July 30, 1999. Effective August 2, 1999, certificates will be issued from series 6500, and no more series 4000 certificates will be issued.
Certifiable score appointments may be made from both series 4000 and series 6500 through August 31, 1999. All certifiable score appointments with effective dates on and after September 1, 1999 must be made from series 6500.
There will be two new certifiable scores of 85 set for series 4000 (registers 4000/86 and 4000/89), and two changes: the certifiable scores for the registers 4000 - 05 (General Clerical Exam - Two Years) and 4000 - 44 (Accounting Clerk - GCE) are being lowered from 85 to 83 effective the date of this circular and until September 1, 1999, when no more series 4000 appointments may be made.
The certifiable scores for series 6500 are attached and may be viewed on the OPEN system.
General Circular 1353, issued on May 27, 1999, describes the procedures for converting provisional appointees who were appointed based on series 4000 certificates.
