Subject: Results Of Commissioner Runoff Election

Issue Date: April 23, 1999

The runoff election of the classified employee member of the State Civil Service Commission concluded on April 7, 1999, and the period during which the election could be protested has ended without challenge. Mr. Burl Cain, warden of Louisiana State Penitentiary, has been reelected to the seat he currently holds.

Candidates for this office received the following votes in the runoff election:

                                                                            1. Burl Cain 10,495

                                                                            2. Michael L. Harris 9,156

The total number of valid votes counted was 19,651

Mr. Cain will be sworn in to serve his new term at the meeting of the State Civil Service Commission on May 4, 1999.
