Subject: Certifiable Scores Update

Issue Date: November 25, 1998

State Civil Service Rule 8.4(d) provides for the establishing of certifiable scores; this circular updates all certifiable scores. You may make a probationary appointment of any candidate who has a current certifiable score without requesting or working a certificate of eligibles.

You may also make certifiable score appointments to any job title for which Civil Service issues "eligible" ratings. Eligible ratings are issued for all series 8888 jobs.

PLEASE NOTE: When a selection procedure changes for a particular job or group of jobs, the certifiable score that had been established for the old test is no longer valid. All certifiable scores are established for the particular selection procedure. Therefore, if the selection procedure for that job changes (a new series/card number), the old certifiable score is cancelled. A new certifiable score will probably be established for the new register, but it may not be done immediately. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION ABOUT A CERTIFIABLE SCORE, YOU MUST CONTACT THE EXAMINING DIVISION PRIOR TO MAKING AN APPOINTMENT!

The following changes are being made to certifiable scores:

For all other 4000 registers already having certifiable scores, there is NO CHANGE.

For all other 4000 registers NOT already having certifiable scores, we are setting a new certifiable score of 85.

Rehab Evaluator    1333/33        80     Lowered from 86

Rehab Counselor    1333/34        80     Lowered from 86

For all other 1333 registers already having certifiable scores, there is NO CHANGE.

For all other 1333 registers NOT already having certifiable scores, we are setting a new certifiable score of 86.

Accountant 1 & Related 1000/18    75     Lowered from 85

Accountant 2 & Related 1000/19    80     Lowered from 85

Auditor Entry Jobs  1500/01       80     Lowered from 85

For ALL other registers already having certifiable scores, there is NO CHANGE to certifiable scores.

The effective date of the certifiable scores listed in this circular is December 21, 1998. Personnel actions with an effective date before December 21, 1998 should be based on the old certifiable scores. Personnel actions with an effective date on or after December 21, 1998 must be based on the new certifiable scores.
