General Circular No. 001324

To:       Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors

Subject:     Update On Some Certifiable Scores

Issue Date:  August 4, 1998

As you know, many certifiable scores were lowered dramatically after the theft of

examination booklets last summer to ease the impact of test closures on state agencies

obliged to draw candidates from aging lists of eligibles.  Since the re-opening of the

General Clerical Exam, many candidates have been added to its eligible lists.  Because

most hiring has been done using the lowered certifiable scores, the lists have grown

unmanageably large.

Effective September 1, 1998, the following changes to certifiable scores are being made:

                                                          Temporary

Register            Cert. Score     New Cert. Score

                                                  General Clerical Exam - Entry   70                80

                                                  General Clerical Exam - 1 Year  70                80

If you have any questions, please call Bill Rowe or Amy Tompkins in the Examining

Division at (504) 342-8536 [after 8/17/98, (225) 342-8536].

Sincerely,
