General Circular No. 001315

To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors

Subject: College Senior Testing

Issue Date: April 15, 1998

The Department of Civil Service is trying to improve its recruitment of college graduates for entry level professional accounting and auditing positions. To accomplish this, we will allow college seniors to test for the accounting and auditing positions up to six (6) months prior to their graduation date.

You may recall that we already allow earlier testing for PET positions (General Circular No. 001251, August 23, 1996). With the earlier testing program, we have two major expectations.

1. State agencies and college seniors will both know an applicants job prospects sooner.

2. We believe the earlier testing period will help us to attract seniors who will not wait until graduation to seek employment.

We will establish two registers called College Senior Pre-Test: Accounting and College Senior Pre-Test: Auditing. The test series will be 100 and 1500 respectively. There will not be any jobs associated with these registers, therefore no appointments can be made from these registers.

Two weeks prior to the students graduation date, they will be eligible to apply for regrades to these registers. If you have any questions on the above matter, please call Jean Tozer at (504) 342-8536.

Sincerely,

Allen H. Reynolds

Director
