Subject: Appointment Of Civil Service Director

I am very pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Mr. Allen Reynolds as the Director

of the Department of State Civil Service. The Civil Service Commission, at its meeting of March

5, 1997, unanimously voted to make this action effective on that date.

Mr. Reynolds has served as Acting Director since May 2, 1996. He has had a long and

distinguished career at the Department of Civil Service since his employment in 1973. He was

appointed Deputy Director in 1984 after serving in several other positions, including that of

Undersecretary. He was a recipient of the Charles E. Dunbar Award in 1996 in recognition of

unselfish service to the citizens of Louisiana through the merit system of public employment. He

holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from Nicholls State University and was a

member of the United States Army Reserve.

On behalf of all the members of the Civil Service Commission, I would like to congratulate Mr.

Reynolds. It is our hope and expectation that you will extend to him your support and

cooperation in improving the state classified service.
