Subject: Details Involving The Senior Executive Service

Issue Date: April 10, 1996

Because many details to special duty involving the Senior Executive Service may last from four to eight years, these details will now be approved only on a competitive basis. The details will either be announced by the agency or the Department of Civil Service. Applications will be sent to the Examining Division and graded by the Department of Civil Service. The agency will be required to select an eligible from the top five grade groups for that detail. All applicants for the detail who have current grades for the appropriate jobs that are continuously announced, may be detailed if they are in the top five grade groups.
