General Circular No. 1217 General Circular No. 001217

To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors

Subject: Civil Service Now On Internet

Issue Date: January 5, 1996

The Department of State Civil Service is now on the Internet. Through the generosity of the Department of Natural Resources, the Civil Service home page opened on the World Wide Web on December 28th. Our Web address (URL) is http://www.dnr.state.la.us/~cs/. We are also listed under state departments on the Info Louisiana home page. (http://www.state.la.us/).

Currently available at the Civil Service web site are summaries of each division within the department, phone and fax number listings, information about employment with the state, including how to apply for jobs, be scheduled for tests, subscribe to state job announcements, etc. Web visitors can even view, print or download samples of civil service test questions.

In the coming weeks, as we continue to develop our web site, we'll be adding information on job opportunities, job specifications, Civil Service Rules, General Circulars and more. The Internet will allow users to view, print or download this information directly to their own computers.

As more and more state agencies join the Internet and Info Louisiana, we look forward to cooperating with them to provide information to the public in the most efficient and effective possible manner. The Internet is just one more tool we're using to pursue our goal of service.

If you have questions or comments about the civil service web site, please write them in our "guest book" when you visit our home page. Or you may contact Jean Tozer or Kirk Smith at 504-342-8536, Linc 421-8536, fax 504-342-2386.

Sincerely,

Herbert L. Sumrall
Director
