There is quoted below for your information and guidance a proclamation issued on November 28, 1995 by the Honorable Edwin W. Edwards, Governor of Louisiana.

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

BATON ROUGE

P R O C L A M A T I O N

WHEREAS, under Title 1, Section 55, of the Louisiana Revised Statutes, Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 1995, and New Year's Day, Monday, January 1, 1996, are legal holidays in the State of Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, under the same statute it is provided that "the Governor by executive proclamation, may authorize the observance of such other holidays and half-holidays as he may deem in keeping with efficient administration";

NOW THEREFORE I, EDWIN W. EDWARDS, Governor of the State of Louisiana, do
hereby issue this proclamation authorizing the observance of a holiday on Tuesday, December 26, 1995 and Tuesday, January 2, 1996.

I do hereby direct that the heads of all institutions, offices and departments of the State shall permit employees to observe such holidays, except that provisions shall be made for the efficient administration of all facilities, the operation of which cannot be dispensed with, in the discretion of the head of the institution, office or department where such conditions prevail.

May I take this means to wish you and yours a happy, holy and safe holiday season.
