There is quoted below for your information and guidance a proclamation issued on November 30, 1994 by the Honorable Edwin W. Edwards, Governor of Louisiana.

We have conferred with the Governor's Office and confirmed that state agencies will observe the Monday, December 26, 1994, and Monday, January 2, 1995 as holidays, and that employees will be entitled to one day off for each holiday.

P R O C L A M A T I O N

WHEREAS, Sunday, December 25, 1994, Christmas Day, and Sunday, January 1, 1995, New Year's Day, under the provisions of R.S. 1:55, have been designated as legal holidays to be observed by all departments of the state; and

WHEREAS, since said dates fall upon most state full time employees' regular day off, in accord with R.S. 1:55(B) (4) said holiday shall be celebrated and enjoyed by state employees on the closest regularly scheduled work day following this legal holiday, i.e. Monday, December 26, 1994 and Monday, January 2, 1995;

NOW THEREFORE I, EDWIN W. EDWARDS, Governor of the State of Louisiana, do
hereby proclaim that in accord with and subject to the provisions of R.S. 1:55(B) (4) of Louisiana all state employees shall have a holiday on Monday, December 26, 1994 and Monday, January 2, 1995. Further, I do hereby direct that the heads of all institutions, offices and departments of the State shall permit employees to observe this holiday, except that provisions shall be made for the efficient administration of all facilities, the operation of which cannot be dispensed with, in the discretion of the head of the institution, office or department where such conditions prevail.
