General Circular No. 001145

To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors

Subject: Agency Notification Of Job Abolishment Results

Issue Date: March 25, 1994

MARCH 15, 1994 ABOLISHMENT OF JOB TITLES
On March 15, the Director signed an interim approval memo
abolishing over 800 job titles. For many of these titles we designated a replacement title which may later require revision to reflect examples of work assumed from abolished titles.

A listing of abolished titles is provided in Transmittal #320 which is in the process of being distributed.

Occupied positions affected by consolidation of existing job titles have been placed BY CIVIL SERVICE into another title by JOB CORRECTION, effective March 15. We have entered these actions for you. Instructions to enable you to enter appropriate SF1's to effect such job corrections are provided as part of this circular. We will notify you at a later date if updated position descriptions are required. We will amend our file copies of position to reflect new titles. Please amend your copies of affected SF3's.

If you have any questions, please contact William Larguier, Glenn Balentine or Anna Paxton at LINC 421-8083 or (504) 342-8083.

In order to effect the personnel actions for the employees in these abolished/job corrected job titles, it will be necessary to submit an SF-1 with "Job Correction" as the nature of action, effective March 15, 1994. The Civil Service Authority for the action itself is Rule 5.8, and the authority for the pay is Rule 6.8.

Pay for employees whose positions have been job corrected is basically the same as that of employees whose positions have been reallocated. If the Job correction is lateral, the employee's pay should remain the same. If the Job Correction is upward, the pay would be based on promotion pay rules.

SF-1's effecting these Job Correction actions MUST be submitted and processed no later than June 15, 1994. Periodic reports will be run for the purpose of monitoring agency progress in submission of these SF-1's. If you have any questions regarding these personnel actions, please contact Betty Mandeville at telephone LINC 421-8285, or (504) 342-8285.

Sincerely,

Herbert L. Sumrall
Director of State Civil Service
