Subject: Entering/Editing JOB SEARCH vacancy postings to reflect Mandatory Special Entrance Rates for WS 201-203, SS 401, MS 501-502, and AS 601-602

The State Civil
Service Commission has approved a mandatory statewide Special Entrance Rate
(SER) of $6.15 per hour for all jobs in the following pay grades: WS 201, WS 202, WS 203, AS 601, AS 602, MS
501, MS 502, and SS 401, effective August 14, 2006.
This change in
the minimum salary in the pay grades will have two effects on the DSCS JOB
SEARCH Internet posting system: 1. All postings for jobs in the affected pay
grades will have to be edited on August 14, 2006, to reflect the new SER in the
minimum monthly salary field and 2. All vacancy postings for jobs in the
affected pay grades, created on or after August 14, 2006, will have to reflect
the new SER in the minimum monthly salary field, by a manual entry of the
minimum monthly salary.
DSCS will edit
all existing postings on JOB SEARCH as of August 14, 2006, to reflect the new
minimum salary SER.
Human resource
persons creating vacancy postings in the JOB SEARCH system, for jobs in the
affected pay grades on or after August 14, 2006, will have to override the
system generated minimum monthly pay and enter the new monthly minimum
reflecting the mandatory statewide SER.
This can be done by simply entering the new SER minimum monthly pay in
the “Min Monthly Salary” field on the vacancy posting.
The new minimum
monthly pay reflecting the mandatory statewide SER effective on August 14, 2006
will be:
WS 201 $1066.00
WS 202 $1066.00
WS 203 $1066.00
AS 601 $1066.00
AS 602 $1066.00
MS 501 $1066.00
MS 502 $1066.00
SS 401 $1066.00
