General Circular No. 001665
To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors
Subject: Deadline for 2005/06 Supervisory Training Compliance
Report
Issue Date: June 27, 2006
NOTE: Please make this General circular
available to the person who is responsible for tracking training in your
agency.
Each year, appointing
authorities must report on their agency’s compliance with the Mandatory
Supervisory Training requirements established under Civil Service Rule
7.4(f). These reports are presented
annually to the Civil Service Commission.
Due to training delays
caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, on November 2, 2005, the Civil Service Commission
approved a 6-month extension of training deadlines for employees in Supervisory
Groups 1 and 2 whose training deadlines fell on or after August 27, 2005. Training deadlines for employees in
Supervisory Group 3 had already been extended for three years to June 30, 2008
pending development of one of the required classes.
In light of these
training deadline extensions, we are postponing this year’s reporting deadline
from September 30, 2006 to January 31, 2007.
At that time, you will be asked to report on training completed by your
employees from July 1, 2005 to December 31, 2006. Please continue to maintain your training records in a fashion
that will enable you to report your rate of compliance for this period. We will issue a reminder of this reporting
requirement in December.
Please note that
extension of training deadlines does not eliminate training requirements. Agencies must continue to schedule
employees in the required classes.
The list of mandatory classes and other related information may be found
on the Civil Service website at www.civilservice.louisiana.gov
under “Training.”
