General Circular
No. 001650
To: Heads of State Agencies and
Human Resource Directors
Subject: Upgrade of DSCS Job Search
Issue Date: March 15, 2006
The Department
of State Civil Service is pleased to announce their Internet recruiting
service, JOB SEARCH, is being upgraded to better serve job seekers and the HR
community.
The JOB SEARCH
upgrade will include changes in the language on the vacancy postings and
vacancy data entry. Agency users will
now have the option to view only their own postings and own contact
instructions when posting a vacancy.
Upon
implementation of this upgrade, agency users will have to recreate their
contact instructions in the new system.
An easy way to accomplish this is to save the present contact
instructions in Word documents, make necessary changes and then paste into new
instructions in the new system. All present contact instructions should be
saved before April 1, 2006.
The JOB SEARCH
subscription service will remain the same in the new system. However, present subscribers will have to
re-subscribe to the new system, once the upgrade has taken place. All present subscribers will receive an
e-mail prior to the upgrade notifying them that they will need to re-subscribe
and how to accomplish this task.
The upgraded JOB
SEARCH system will be available for use in the early spring of 2006. In order to transfer postings from the old
to the new system, agencies will not be able to post new vacancies for 5 days
prior to the upgrade. Active postings
on the old system before the upgrade will remain active on the old system,
until transferred to the new system.
They will then be available for viewing when the upgrade is
completed. The open and closing dates
for all postings will remain the same.
Agencies will not be required to recreate these open vacancies in the
new system. Agencies and Job
Subscribers will be notified of the actual upgrade dates by e-mail.
Agencies will be
able to begin posting again, in the new system, after the upgrade is
completed. Jobseekers will have access
to all open postings throughout our upgrade, by having access to the old system
until the upgrade is complete and then access to all open postings in the new
system.
We foresee that
this upgrade will better meet the needs of job seekers as well as HR
personnel. If you have any questions,
please contact Aeli Poydras in the Staffing Division at 225-342-8536.
Sincerely,
s/Anne
