Subject:            Appointment of Civil Service Director

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Anne Smith Soileau as Director of the Department of State Civil Service. The State Civil Service Commission, at its meeting on March 8, 2006, unanimously voted to make this action effective on that date.

Ms. Soileau has served as Acting Director since November 25, 2004.  She has had a long and distinguished career at the Department of State Civil Service since her employment in 1977.  She was appointed Deputy Director in 1997 after serving in several other positions, including that of Undersecretary.  She was a recipient of the 2002 Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Service Award in recognition of unselfish service to the citizens of Louisiana through the merit system of public employment.  She is currently President of the National Association of State Personnel Executives.
