STATE OF LOUISIANA
DEPARTMENT OF STATE CIVIL SERVICE
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
General Circular No. 001611
To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors
Subject: New Hiring Score for COAST Exam and Falsification of
Scores
Issue Date: June 13, 2005
CHANGE TO COAST RECOMMENDED HIRING SCORE: Based on agency feedback, the recommended hiring score for the
COAST exam will be set at the 40th percentile effective July 5, 2005. This brings the recommended hiring score for
this exam under QUEST in line with the recommended hiring score for the LEAPS
and LEAPS Supervisor, also set at the 40th percentile, as well as the absolute
hiring score for the PET under QUEST, which must be at the 40th percentile or
higher, all effective July 5, 2005.
This information will be updated in the HR Handbook on June 15, 2005.
FALSIFICATION OF SCORE NOTICES:
Since the QUEST hiring process requires applicants to submit score
notices to State employers, there have been more attempts to falsify score
notices. Human Resources officers are
reminded that any Civil Service score submitted by an applicant must be
verified in the OPEN system before it is used in hiring decisions.
With the expansion of the QUEST process to the jobs on three additional
written exams, there may be an increase in attempts to falsify the required
scores. Therefore, we recommend that
agencies verify in the OPEN system the score notices of those applicants being
considered for employment, especially those which are forwarded to the hiring
manager. If you discover that a
falsified score notice has been submitted to your office, please notify the
Accountability Division immediately at 225-219-9437.
If you have any questions about the above actions, please contact Jamie
Lewis in the Staffing Division at 225-342-8536 or at jamie.lewis@la.gov.
Sincerely,
s/Anne

Acting Director
