General Circular No. 001577

To: Heads of State Agencies and Human Resource Directors

Subject: Upcoming Election of Classified Employee Member of State Civil Service Commission

Issue Date: August 31, 2004

Once again, the time is approaching to elect the classified employee member of the State Civil Service Commission. The call for the election will be issued on January 3, 2005. Any classified employee whose records show that he or she has permanent status on December 5, 2004 will be an eligible voter. For this election, all ballots and election brochures will be mailed directly to employees at the mailing address reported by the appointing authority to Civil Service. Ballots will not be delivered to agencies for distribution. Therefore, it is vital that ISIS HR agencies make certain that the mailing addresses, social security numbers, contract elements and other permanent status indicator information are up-to-date. Non-ISIS agencies should make certain this information is up-to-date in their respective systems. Otherwise, eligible employees may not get ballots and the election results may be in jeopardy. Please do not let this happen at your agency. It is up to the Human Resources Directors to make sure this information is up-to-date so all of the eligible employees in their respective agencies get an opportunity to vote.

Proposed amended administrative rules governing the election appear in the August 20, 2004 issue of the Louisiana Register. These rules are part of the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC). In addition the proposed amended rules appear on the Department’s web site at www.civilservice.louisiana.gov.

Questions about the election should be directed to Max Reichert, Human Resources Assistant Division Administrator at 225-342-8536 or e-mail max.reichert@la.gov.

Sincerely,

s/Allen H. Reynolds

Director
