Subject: Further Exhibits for the January 8, 2003 Pay Hearing

Issue Date: December 13, 2002

The State Civil Service Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 to consider proposed changes to the Classification and Pay Plan.

The hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be held in the auditorium of the Claiborne Building, 1201 Third Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In addition to the exhibit contained in General Circular 001513, the following exhibits will be considered and are attached:

THE CHANGES TO THE PAY PLAN NOTED IN EXHIBITS B, C, AND D HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN INTERIM APPROVAL BY THE CIVIL SERVICE DIRECTOR. THE CHANGES WILL NOT BECOME EFFECTIVE UNLESS ADOPTED BY THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION AND APPROVED BY THE GOVERNOR. IF ADOPTED BY THE COMMISSION AND APPROVED BY THE GOVERNOR, THE GOVERNOR WILL SET THE EFFECTIVE DATE.

Further supplements adding items to these exhibits may be issued at the Commission Hearing. Human Resources offices will be kept apprised of additions.

We have received comments from several agencies proposing changes to the Scientific and Technical Schedule (TS) including adding jobs and changing pay levels. We are still reviewing these proposals and will publish a supplemental exhibit with approved changes at the pay hearing. Human Resources offices will be notified of our decisions as they are made.

Please review these proposals and furnish us, as soon as possible, any comments that you consider pertinent. Comments and recommendations will be considered on the above items only. If you would like to appear before the Commission to present your comments orally, you are invited to do so and are requested to notify the Department of Civil Service of such intentions in advance of the meeting.

Please post this General Circular prominently so that all employees will receive notice of this hearing.
