Subject: New Test For Typing Jobs

Issue Date: August 7, 2001

The Examining Division has created a new test for jobs formerly covered by test series 4002. The new test, series 4444, was implemented July 16, 2001. Anyone testing on that date or afterwards for jobs requiring typing has taken or will take the new test series.

Certificates will continue to be issued from 4002 registers until September 1, 2001. On September 1, 2001 we will begin issuing from the new registers and 4002 will be abolished.

Certifiable scores from the 4002 may be used for appointments through December 31, 2001. Thereafter, only certifiable scores for the 4444 series can be used. Certifiable scores have been established for series 4444.

A person may be non-competitively promoted to a job requiring typing skills if he/she

1) has a verifiable score for series 4002 or 4444,

2) currently occupies a typing job

3) has prospective non-competitive reemployment eligibility to the job to which he/she is being promoted, or

4) has occupied a typing job for 6 months within the last 5 years.

Sincerely,

Allen Reynolds

Director
