About searching for jobs:
How does the Search work in general?
You can search the job postings on this site by geographical area, by occupational group, by pay level, by the state agencies that have the vacancies, or by the type of vacancy.
Begin by selecting the geographical area you want to search within. Choose a statewide search by clicking the link Search Statewide. Choose a region by clicking on the map. Choose a parish by clicking the link Search by Parish, then click on the name of the parish that you want to search.
You can define your search by selecting your pay requirements, an occupational group, a type of vacancy, an agency that you are interested in working for, a job series you have been graded for, any combination of these, or none of them. If you don't define your search, you will get all of the jobs posted for the geographical area you choose.
You can sort vacancies by making a choice in the Sort menu. If you do not change how the results are sorted, they will be listed according to the date that each posting closes, with the nearest closing dates at the top of the page.
How do I search by location?
You can choose from a statewide search, a search by region of the state, or search in a single parish. Parishes are grouped into regions. You can view the appropriate region by holding your cursor over the main map on the JOB SEARCH homepage. Choose a region by clicking on the map. Choose a statewide search by clicking the link Search Statewide. Choose a parish by clicking the link Search by Parish, then click on the name of the parish that you want to search.
How do I find jobs in a certain career field/pay level/agency?
The jobs that are posted here are grouped together according to the general type of work that they do into Occupational Groups. You can view these Occupational Groups by scrolling down in the menu.
To search by Occupational Group (Career Field), select one or as many as you like from the drop-down Search menu.
Each job in the State system has a set pay level with a minimum and maximum monthly salary in one of several pay scales. New hires usually begin at the minimum for the pay level for their job, but some positions pay above the minimum at entry based on special qualifications or demand for experience. To search by pay, select the lowest pay minimum that you are interested in from the drop-down Search menu
