CALCULATING ADJUSTED SERVICE DATES

Record all periods of state employment.
For an adjusted service date for leave earning, ALL periods of state employment count, no matter what kind of appointment is was.
An adjusted service date for layoff seniority only uses certain kinds of appointments. Please call for specific information if you need to do calculations for layoff purposes.
Subtract the beginning date from the ending date for each period of state employment. To “borrow” a month, borrow 30 days.
Add together all of the periods of employment to see how long the person has worked for the state.
Now subtract that amount of time from the MOST RECENT hire date and you will have the adjusted leave date.

	Convert the days: 49 days = 1 month and 19 days	12 14 19
	Convert the months: 14 months = 1 year and 2 months	13 02 19
