I. The following
tests are used mostly for new hiring:
SERIES 7000/01 - Clerical Office & Administrative Support Test
(COAST) This test
is used to fill clerical jobs such as Clerk 1, 2, 3 and 4; Accounting Clerk ;
Caseworker Assistant; Secretary 1 and 2. The optional COAST-Typing Skills test is available in most Test
Centers.
SERIES 7333 - Professional Entry Test (PET) This test is used to fill professional jobs such as Medicaid
analyst, probation and parole officer, computer programmer, purchasing agent,
and human resource analyst.
SERIES 7002 - COAST-Typing Skills Test This test may be required for jobs such as Administrative Coordinator 1-4; Administrative Assistant 1-6.
SERIES 7500 - Law Enforcement & Protective Services (LEAPS) This test is used to fill law
enforcement jobs such as Police Officer 1 and 2 and Wildlife Enforcement Cadet.
SERIES 4242 - Accounting Paraprofessional Test (APT) This test is used to fill
Accounting Specialist and Accountant Technician jobs, which involve accounting
and bookkeeping duties.
SERIES 1111 - Engineering Assistant This test
is used to fill beginning-level jobs in drafting, materials testing, fuels
inspection, etc. No prior experience or
education is required.
SERIES 7200 - Wildlife and Fisheries Technician This test is used to fill
beginning-level jobs in various wildlife and fisheries management areas. No prior experience or education is
required.
SERIES 7900/01 - Motor Vehicle
Compliance Analyst Test This test
is used for Motor Vehicle office jobs that issue driver's licenses, title
registrations and license plates, and do other compliance tasks concerning
motor vehicle regulations.
II. Tests
used mostly for promotion of permanent classified State employees:
SERIES 3700 - Professional Supervisor This test is used to fill jobs which supervise professional
employees. Most are filled by promotion
of permanent State employees.
SERIES 4900 - Professional Manager This test is used to fill managerial and administrative
jobs. Almost all are filled by promotion
of permanent State employees.
SERIES 7700 - Law Enforcement Supervisor This test is used primarily for promotion of permanent State
employees to Police Lieutenant positions.
SERIES 4300 - Highway Foreman This test
is used primarily for non-competitive promotion of permanent employees in the
Department of Transportation and Development.
SERIES 2812 - Parish Highway Maintenance Supervisor This test is used primarily for
non-competitive promotion of permanent employees in the Department of
Transportation and Development.
