REGISTERED DIETITIAN APPLICANT
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide nutritional care in health and disease in routine situations.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from a Registered Dietitian.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise direct line over paraprofessional and non-professional dietary
personnel.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Twenty-four hour facilities statewide.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from a Dietetic Technician by performance of professional level
dietetic duties.
Differs from Registered Dietitian by
lack of professional registration.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Calculates, writes, adapts, and modifies diets or menus to meet individual
needs.
Counsels and teaches patients and their families the
practical and technical aspects for the diet as it relates to the particular
patient's health problem.
Supervises subordinates in the production of meals and
service, sanitation and storage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Registration eligible with the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the
American Dietetic Association.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a permanent or provisional Louisiana dietitian/nutritionist
license at the time of employment.
