8)            Request of the Port of South Louisiana for authority in accordance with Civil Service Rule 11.1(b) to establish a standard bi-weekly work schedule of 84 hours per pay period for its Operations Division personnel involved in firefighting and emergency response, effective April 5, 2006.  (Appearance by a representative of the Port of South Louisiana.)  THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

9)            Request of the LSU Health Care Services Division—Huey P. Long Medical Center for one time payment of $500.00 for Ms. Brenda Ray in accordance with Civil Service Rule 6.16(a), effective April 5, 2006.  (Appearance by a representative of the LSU Health Care Services Division—Huey P. Long Medical Center.)  THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

 

10)            Consideration of the following requests for authority per Civil Service Rule 6.16.2 for optional pay adjustments for additional duties, as follows:

 

a.         Department of Public Safety, Office of Motor Vehicles - for a temporary optional pay adjustment of an additional 2% for Ms. Betty Bostick, Motor Vehicle Office Manager 1, for the temporary performance of additional duties, effective October 3, 2005. 

 

b.         Department of Civil Service, Division of Administrative Law - for an optional pay adjustment of 5% for Ms. Vivian Guillory, Attorney-Deputy General Counsel 2, for temporary additional duties, effective February 17, 2006.

(Appearance by representatives of the agencies.)  THE REQUESTS WERE GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

11)            Request of the Louisiana Recovery Authority for thirty (30) unclassified positions to staff a new state agency under the Office of the Governor in accordance with Civil Service Rule 4.1(d)2, beginning April 5, 2006 and ending February 7, 2011.  (Appearance by a representative of the Louisiana Recovery Authority.)  AFTER CONSIDERATION OF THE REPORT RECEIVED FROM ANDY KOPPLIN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LOUISIANA RECOVERY AUTHORITY, THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

1)         Request of the Southern University at New Orleans to extend the furlough of 24 employees that began on November 3, 2005 and on January 23, 2006 in accordance with Civil Service Rule 17.8(d) to close of business on June 30, 2006.   (Appearance by a representative of the Southern University at New Orleans.)  THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

 

2)         Request of the Housing Authority of New Orleans to extend the furlough of approximately 250 employees in accordance with Civil Service Rule 17.8(d), effective April 18, 2006 and ending on June 30, 2006.  (Appearance by a representative of the Housing Authority of New Orleans.)  After giving Jomo Kenyatta Bean, President of the Employees’ Relation Committee FOR THE Housing Authority of New Orleans, an opportunity to address the Commission; and after giving Ms. Irma Garcia, Human Resources Director, HANO, and Mr. Terrell Broussard, Counsel for HANO, an opportunity to address the Commission, THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

 

3)         Request of the Office of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities on behalf of Pinecrest Developmental Center for an individual pay adjustment per Civil Service Rule 6.16(c) in the amount of $110.40 biweekly for Kenneth S. Miller, Operating Engineer Master, effective February 13, 2006.  (Appearance by a representative of the Office of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, Pinecrest Developmental Center.)  THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
