  3. Request of the Department of Public Safety, for exceptions to the regular layoff rules for a layoff that is to be effective June 23, 2002. (Appearance by a Representative of the Department of Public Safety.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  4. Request of the Secretary of State, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 4.1(d)2, for a two-year extension of the unclassified authority for the Assistant Director position at the Old State Capitol. (Appearance by a Representative of the Secretary of State.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  5. Request of the Department of Natural Resources, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 4.1(d)2, for one (1) on-going unclassified position of Director of Communications. (Appearance by a Representative of the Department of Natural Resources.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2002 THROUGH JANUARY 4, 2004.

Request of the Louisiana State University, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 11.34, to change its Crisis Leave Pool Policy to allow an employee to donate a minimum of four hours instead of eight hours.   7. Request of the Office of the Governor, to appoint Mrs. Chris Weaver, Director for the Workforce Commission, as its representative on the Comprehensive Public Training Program’s Policy Board. THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  2. Consideration of the request from the Swanson Correctional Center for Youth, to suspend Ms. Doris Redd (Hamilton) without pay, pending criminal proceedings against her. (Appearance by a Representative of the Swanson Correctional Center for Youth.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED WITH THE STIPULATION THAT MS. REDD FIRST BE ALLOWED TO USE HER ANNUAL LEAVE OR RESIGN FROM HER POSITION.

  3. Consideration of a Motion to Dismiss in the appeal of Wanda Washington vs. Department of Health and Hospitals, Pinecrest Developmental Center, Docket No. 14444.   1. Request of the Department of Insurance to establish a Leave Crisis Pool Policy under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 11.34. (Appearance by a Representative of the Department of Insurance.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
  2. Request of the Department of Insurance, for authority under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 4.1(d)2, for one (1) ongoing unclassified position of Actuary. (Appearance by a Representative of the Department of Insurance.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
  3. Request of the Louisiana State University, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.3.1, for cash allowances for the maintenance of uniforms and purchase of essential equipment for the remaining police officers that were not covered under the previously approved authorization for "plainclothes" jobs. The requested effective date is July 1, 2002. (Appearance by a Representative of the Louisiana State University.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
  4. Request of the Louisiana Public Service Commission, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16(c), for an individual pay adjustment in the amount of $181.84 bi-weekly for Mr. Stanley Perkins, Audit Manager (GS-23). (Appearance by a Representative of the Louisiana Public Service Commission). THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
  5. Request of the New Orleans City Park to discuss the issue of the Request for Proposal for its Golf department. (Appearance by a Representative of the New Orleans City Park.) THE COMMISSION RECEIVED A PRESENTATION FROM BOB BECKER AND HERBERT SUMRALL. NO ACTION WAS REQUIRED.
  6. Request of the Louisiana Systemic Initiatives Program, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 4.1(d)2, for an extension of four (4) unclassified positions from August 31, 2002 to August 31, 2003. The requested positions are as follows: THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  2. Consideration of Requests for Special Entrance Rates. THE COMMISSION GRANTED THE REQUESTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEPARTMENT. THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE THERAPEUTIC RECREATIONAL SERVICES SPECIALIST 1 WAS AMENDED TO MAY 6, 2002.

  3. Consideration of Requests for Special Pay Rates. THE COMMISSION GRANTED THE REQUESTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEPARTMENT.

 

ITEMS ADDED TO THE AGENDA:

  1. Request of the Louisiana School for the Deaf, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16.2, to establish a policy for an Optional Pay Adjustment Program effective June 5, 2002, to reward those employees in the following areas: THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  1. Retention of employees deemed essential to the school – up to 10% base pay or lump sum increase to match a verified offer from a private employer.

  2. Compensation for additional duties – up to 10% base pay or lump sum increases to award employees for either permanent or temporary additional duties.

  3. Recruit employees into difficult to fill positions – up to a 10% base pay or lump sum increase in order to recruit employees into difficult to fill positions.

  1. Request of the Department of Health and Hospitals, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16.1, to amend its Rewards and Recognition Policy to allow payments up to the maximum allowed by the Department of Civil Service effective May 6, 2002. THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

  2. Request of the Department of Transportation and Development , for an exception to its Dual Career Ladder Policy by waiving its PPR requirements on a one-time basis for four Engineering Technicians. THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.
