1) General Business No. 10 – Addendum to the requests for authority, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16.1, to establish/amend the Rewards and Recognition Policies as follows: THE REQUESTS WERE GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

1. Department of Social Services – to allow greater flexibility in the conditions that have to be met to be awarded $250 for training. The addition allows for substitutions for the required 40 hours of class and/or course work. Requested effective date is March 6, 2002. 
2. Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism - to establish a Rewards and Recognition Policy effective February 1, 2002. The agency has chosen to reward those employees in the following areas:

• Service Recognition – certificates and/or service awards; retirement awards.
• Innovation - monetary recognition up to 5% of the amount saved, not to exceed 9% of employees’ base salary.
• Education and Training – up to $1000 depending upon training/certification received.
• Initiative – monetary recognition not to exceed $500.
• Special Projects – up to 9% of base pay or $250.
