12) Request of the Department of Social Services, for approval of its Leave Crisis Pool Policy under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 11.34. (Appearance by a Representative of the Department of Social Services.) THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED BY THE COMMISSION.

13) Request of the Department of Transportation and Development, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16(c), for an individual pay rate adjustment in the amount of $96.00 bi-weekly for Mr. Julius Acklin, Marine Chief Engineer 2 (GS-17) effective July 2, 2001. 14) Request of the Office of Public Health, Department of Health and Hospitals, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16(c), for an individual pay rate adjustment in the amount of $370.80 bi-weekly for Mr. Arifuddowla Abul Foyez, Public Health Epidemiologist (GS-17) effective May 15, 2001. The commission granted this request on the condition that the classified Deputy Assistant Secretary 3 position, which is occupied by the incumbent for whom this request is made, be abolished as soon as the unclassified position is filled.

20) Request of the Department of Labor, under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16.2, to establish an Optional Pay Adjustment Policy effective January 8, 2001. The agency has chosen to reward those employees in the following areas:

1) Retention of employees deemed essential to the agency - up to 7% base pay or lump sum increase to match a written and verified offer from a private employer.

2) Adjust pay differentials between comparable employees - up to 7% base pay increase for salary compression caused by the implementation of a Civil Service pay rule for employees in the same series or supervisory chain.

3) Compensation for additional duties - up to 7% base pay or lump sum increases to award employees for either permanent or temporary additional duties.

21) Request of the State Employees Group Benefits Program under the provisions of Civil Service Rule 6.16.2, to establish an Optional Pay Adjustment Policy effective June 25, 2001. The agency has chosen to reward those employees in the following areas:

1) Retention of employees deemed essential to the agency - up to 7% base pay or lump sum increase to match a written and verified offer from a private employer.

2) Adjust pay differentials between comparable employees - up to 7% base pay increase for salary compression caused by the implementation of a Civil Service pay rule for employees in the same series or supervisory chain.

3) Compensation for additional duties - up to 7% base pay or lump sum increases to award employees for either permanent or temporary additional duties.

4) Recruit employees into difficult to fill positions – up to a 7% base pay or lump sum increase in order to recruit employees into difficult to fill positions.

3) Compensation for additional duties - up to 7% base pay or lump sum increase to award employees for either permanent or temporary additional duties.
